Diamond Colour

What is Diamond Colour?
Diamond colour refers to the natural hue present in a diamond - or the absence of it. While colourless diamonds are the most sought-after for engagement rings due to their pure, bright appearance, diamonds occur in a wide range of shades, from light yellow to rare and vibrant fancy colours like pink, blue, and green. The less colour a white diamond has, the more valuable it typically is.
How Is a Diamond’s Colour Graded?
A diamond’s colour is graded on a scale from D to Z, with D representing the rarest and most desirable colourless diamonds. Grades D, E, and F are nearly indistinguishable to the untrained eye and are prized for their icy-white brilliance. As you move down the scale, diamonds display increasing traces of yellow or brown, with Z-graded diamonds showing the most visible colour.
Diamonds that exhibit hues beyond this range—such as vivid pinks, blues, or greens—are classified as fancy coloured diamonds and are valued for their rarity and uniqueness.
