With Meghan Markle due to give birth in the next few months, royal talk is focused on what Prince Harry’s push present for Meghan will be.
What is a push present you might ask? A push present is a congratulatory gift given to mothers before or after they welcome their little one into this world. Push presents have recently become a royal tradition and Prince Harry will no doubt be looking to his older brother for inspiration, having done it three times already.
Prince William is known for his thoughtful jewellery gifts to Kate in general, but especially those following the birth of each of their three children. After the birth of their first child, Kate was gifted a circular pendant inscribed with Prince George’s name. Following Princess Charlotte’s birth, Kate received a pair of tourmaline, green amethyst and diamond earrings. And after Prince Louis was born she received an equally impressive citrine ring.
It’s no surprise that diamonds are the typical go to that royals and celebrities use to symbolise such a special moment. Not only is it a sentimental item for mum to wear,it can also double as an investment for the baby since diamonds and jewellery hold their value forever and can be passed down from through the generations.
So if you have a little one on the way and are seeking the perfect push present, here are some ideas to keep in mind.
- Letter pendant – nothing is more touching for a new mother than being gifted her baby’s initial to wear close to her heart. And when more come along, additional letters can easily be added to the same necklace or she can always layer up with a new one!
- Circle of Life pendant – a continuous circle of diamonds showcasing love, life and all new beginnings is both symbolic and timeless.
- Pink or Blue stones – pink diamonds, blue sapphires, morganite, London blue topaz, rose quartz, aquamarine. There are so many pink and blue gemstones to choose from to celebrate the birth of a baby girl or boy.
- Eternity Ring – the most meaningful and traditional of all gifts for a new mum. These rings are perfect to stack with her engagement ring and wedding band or wear separately on their own. Eternity rings come in a range of different diamond shapes and sizes and can also include symbolic gemstones (pink or blue or birthstones for example) to add a personal touch.
